Briana Gibbs is the KBCF Citizen Scientist Project Communications and Outreach Consultant and holds a Master of Science in fisheries management. Her Master’s research project involved a 2 month research cruise to the Great Pacific Garbage Patch in 2018 where she studied marine pollution and its impacts on pelagic fish populations. On this cruise she dubbed herself a “trash scientist” and discovered her passion for science communication in the form of a blog to teach science to the public. This lecture provides information on actions people can take to reduce their plastic consumption as well as how to help keep Key Biscayne beaches clean.
